- קֶרֶשII m. ḳeresh, name of a kind of antelope, unicorn. Ḥull.59b ק׳ טביאוכ׳ the ḳ. is the gazelle of Be-Ilai (v. טִגְרוֹס). Ib. ק׳אע״פ שאין לווכ׳ the ḳ. is permitted, although it has only one horn. Y.Sabb.II, 4d bot. ק׳ היה שמהוכ׳ it (the taḥash) was named ḳeresh … having one horn. B. Bath.16b (ref. to קרן הפוך, Job 42:14) שדומה לקרנא דק׳ she had the complexion of the horn of the ḳ.; קרנא דק׳ לקותא היא but this would mean a defect (not a description of beauty).
